The Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Baia Kvitsiani, held working meetings in Shanghai. The meetings were held within the framework of WorldSkills 2026.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia shared glimpses of the working meetings on its official Facebook page on Sunday, September 27, 2026. A small note about the meetings was also shared along with the glimpses.
Baia Kvitsiani met with Shaun Crowley, International Director of AQA Global Assessment Services, and Syed Shah, Head of International Business Development.
The Deputy Minister briefed the AQA representatives on the steps taken, progress achieved, and current priorities regarding the development of Georgia’s vocational education system.
During the meeting, the parties discussed future cooperation and possibilities for joint educational projects.
The discussion covered key issues such as:
- improving the quality of vocational education,
- developing assessment and certification systems,
- creating professional standards and qualifications aligned with labor market demands, enhancing curricula.
Baia Kvitsiani also held meetings with representatives from WorldSkills Europe and WorldSkills Asia to discuss the prospects of Georgia joining these organizations.
The Deputy Minister also met with Catherine Hanken, Director-General of the Department of Vocational and Continuing Education at the German Federal Ministry of Education, as well as representatives from EuroSkills Düsseldorf 2027. The parties discussed organizational matters regarding the Georgian delegation’s participation in the international competition scheduled for Düsseldorf.
At the conclusion of her visit to Shanghai, Baia Kvitsiani discussed partnership opportunities with a representative of the International Abilympics Federation (IAF). The main aim of the federation was increasing access to vocational education for individuals with special educational needs.
