The head of the Fruit Growing Research Service at the Agricultural Scientific-Research Center (SRCA), Zviad Bobokashvili, participated in a workshop held in Switzerland by the board of EUFRIN (European Fruit Research Institutes Network).
The Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture (SRCA) shared glimpses of the workshop event on its official Facebook Page on October 3, 2026, Saturday. The Centre also shared a small note about the event along with its glimpses.Â
EUFRIN is a scientific network of European fruit research institutes dedicated to fostering and strengthening research collaboration in the field of fruit and berry crop production. The Agricultural Scientific-Research Center has been a member of EUFRIN since 2018. The workshop was attended by representatives from fruit research institutes across various European countries and heads of EUFRIN working groups.
During the meeting, Zviad Bobokashvili presented the current directions of fruit research in Georgia and outlined the activities of the Agricultural Scientific-Research Center. Attention was focused on the situation regarding Georgia’s fruit-growing sector during the current season, specifically the impact of global climate change.
Participants of the working meeting discussed ongoing research in the field of agriculture, the activities of the working groups, and joint initiatives.
Participants in Wädenswil learned about Swiss research on fruit and berry crops and visited Agroscope’s experimental orchards and greenhouses to explore new fruit varieties, pruning techniques, and smart technologies.
Opportunities for future collaboration in agriculture were also discussed during the meeting, including within the framework of international research platforms.
