Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia called weak opposition good for development of country. Prime Minister’s comments came at a government meeting on November 18, 2023.
In the meeting Prime Minister added that until and unless radical forces are not controlled the development of country is not possible. He added that this is not the first time when the opposition parties are disturbing the development of country rather they used same things for a long time to disturb the development in country.
PM underlined in his statement that, “ This is good for country. Anyone can see it very clearly that  with the interference of opposition forces the situation is going to worse every year.
This is very crucial time for entire country. We must understand that whole country need a stable and peace full government who can introduce long term solutions. This is also to be added that if this approach of opposition parties is not contained this will cause much disruption to progressive journey of country.
PM also gave the example of previous years. He said that in past years also the country has lost the pace for development. According to him every time when opposition parties gets stronger it negatively affected the strength of country and make the path to development tough and hard with unnecessary resistance.
He also referred to a letter written by Georgia’s opposition parties to leadership of European Unions. In this letter the leader of opposition parties demanded that election result should not be recognised which clearly gave thumbing majority to Georgian Dream party.
The election were concluded on October 26, 2024 and since then all the opposition parties have been blaming the ruling party Georgian Dream for election fraud and violation of election code of conduct to influence the public opinions in their favour.
The opposition parties letter also demanded to cancel 120 million euro in aid to the government of Georgian and demanded to divert this money to civil development works. On the other hand the Georgian Prime Minister rejected these allegation of opposition parties multiple times.
