At the final day of 57th annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank president of the ADB Masatsugu Asakawa expressed his gratitude to the Georgian government for the warm hospitality to the foreign delegations.
He took to his social media handles to share his message. He wrote in the Twitter post “I am thankful to the Georgian government as well as to the delegates and participants for their invaluable contributions to our meaningful dialogue.”
The ADB President on this occasion also underlined the $5 billion replenishment for the Asian Development Fund which was announced during this four-day event. The fund is aimed to support the region’s “poorest and most vulnerable” countries. This is worth mentioning that the Republic of Georgia became an ADB donor country for the first time with a contribution to a $5 billion fund.
The ADB president Asakawa further said this year’s theme – “Bridge to the Future” – was focused on holding discussions on building a “sustainable, inclusive” Asia and the Pacific region. He also added “During this four day we have explored many burning issues including the green globalization, extreme heat, and AI’s transformative potential in healthcare and agriculture at regional and international levels. We are also looking forward to continuing these vital conversations in Milan, Italy, at next year’s ADB annual meeting.”
This year the 57th annual meeting in Tbilisi hosted nearly 70 events. A huge number of topics of common interest were discussed during these meetings. These are connectivity, climate change, capital market development, artificial intelligence, and green globalization. The meeting was attended by almost 3,000 delegates during four days which concluded on Sunday.
At his Twitter handle president also posted several pictures from the event as well. On the other hand the representative of the government said that the government will ensure the implementation of the maximum efforts to achieve the targets of the meeting.
