A new infrastructure has been constructed in the village of Mokhi of the Adigeni Municipality. This new infrastructure includes picnic and camping sites. The new project has been established under the framework of the “Sustainable Forest Management in the Municipality of Adigeni, phase II”.
The Center for International Cooperation and Development of the Republic of Slovenia (CMSR) in Georgia is providing financial support for the project. The new project is being raised under Slovenian practice and a new footpath was added to the cascade of waterfalls in the village of Mokhi. This will give the space a new look and make the tourists’ experience wonderful as well.
It should be noted that this year two more recreational infrastructures and one summer camp are planned within the project’s framework. The “Sustainable Forest Management in Adigeni Municipality” project is being implemented with the financial support of the Government of Slovenia the Caucasus Program of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Zavita Consulting Consortium.
Head of the National Forestry Agency Kakha Tsertsvadze while speaking on the progress of the project, stated, “With the financial support of the Slovenian government an important project is being implemented in Adigeni municipality. Developing tourist infrastructure and multi-purpose use of the forest is one of the agency’s priority directions. To simplify the population’s access to firewood resources as well as for preventive measures against fire this year it is planned to arrange and rehabilitate forest roads, taking into account the Slovenian practice.”
The government representative also added that the main goal of the mentioned project is to strengthen the sustainable management of forests in the municipality of Adigeni. The project’s total budget is 1,099,940 euros, where the contribution of the National Forestry Agency is 551,500 euros, and 548,440 euros is the grant money. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and representatives of local self-government.
The minister of agriculture, speaking specifically on the occasion, added that the government is determined to make every effort to ensure the safety of the country’s natural resources.
