Adjara, Georgia: The Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, was together with the Chairman of the government of Abkhazia, Giorgi Jincharadze, in Khelvachauri, at the public school of the village of Feria.
The visit aimed to support educational initiatives and strengthen cooperation in preserving and promoting the Abkhazian language and cultural heritage among the younger generation.
The Government of Adjara shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on February 11, 2026, Wednesday. The Adjara Government also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.
Government representatives got acquainted with the Abkhazian language teaching program. With the promotion of the Adjara Government and the financing of the Adjarian Ministry of Education and Sports, the Abkhazian language has been taught in this school for ten years.
During his speech, Sulkhan Tamazashvili thanked the representatives of the education sector and noted that teaching the Abkhazian language is not just about mastering the language, but also about sharing the greatest culture and history.
At the event, as well, the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and Chairman of the Provisional Commission on Issues of Restoration of Territorial Integrity and Deoccupation of the Georgian Parliament, Giorgi Volski, spoke at the event.
In the public school of Sopel Feria, in parallel with the Abkhazian language education, students are actively involved in cultural and creative activities. Within the framework of the event, the school’s theater team presented the musical “Lampions”.
The event was attended by members of the Georgian Parliament, representatives of the Adjara Government, the Abkhazia Government, and local self-government.
