Adjara: The Adjara administration is all set to launch a new health program. A meeting was held to implement the program for treatment of Hepatitis B and C.
The meeting was held in this regard in the Hilton Hotel. It was attended by heads of medical institutions, clinics and family doctors from across the region. The working meeting discussed the plans for eliminating hepatitis C and the implementation of state program for the management of hepatitis B.
The Minister of Health and Social Protection of Adjara, Nino Nizharadze played a pivotal role in this important meeting. She was joined by the first Deputy Minister, Mari Zanakidze, Deputy Director of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, Eka Adamia and representatives of Adjara’s public health.
On this occasion Minister Nino Nizharadze also addressed the attendees. While speaking specifically about the program the minister said “For the eighth year the Ministry of Health and the National Center for Disease Control of Georgia are taking the most important steps for the successful implementation of the state program for the elimination of hepatitis C. We thank the medical community for support.”
As per the minister we are thankful to each doctor for supporting the program and informing patients correctly. Today in Georgia up to 80000 citizen’s lives have been saved through the state program for the elimination of hepatitis C. The minister further added that as everyone knows the state program for hepatitis B elimination is starting. Our region has always supported any pilot program, and we are ready to support this critical decision again.
The meeting also delved into the progress and results of preventive vaccinations provided by the national calendar, including the significant vaccination against the papillomavirus. Hepatitis B and C are both severe health complications. People with any one of the problems can suffer liver inflammation.
If not treated timely this problem can also lead to liver damage. The other participants in the event also shared their views with each other and made suggestions for the successful implementation of this program.
