At the meeting of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Sports Affairs of the High Council of Adjara, chaired by the Chairman of the same Committee, David Batsikadze, the amendments to the 2026 Republican budget of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara were discussed.
The Minister of Finance and Economy of Adjara, Ednar Nataridze, presented the draft law to the members of the committee.
According to the Minister, within the framework of the changes, more than 10 million GEL in additional money will be allocated for health and social protection. Funding will help increase access to oncology, cardiology, and surgical programs, as well as high-precision research. The Reserve Fund is also increasing by 500 thousand GEL, which will be spent on financing the needs of the population.
According to the draft law, the projected index of payments of the Autonomous Republic for 2026 is 1 002 000 000 GEL. The total volume of budget project revenues remains unchanged.
In the first and second quarters, against the background of exceeding tax revenues, the forecasted index of tax revenues increased by 40,000.0 thousand GEL. The mentioned change, along with other non-classified incomes (2 000.0 thousand GEL), is fully balanced by the reduction of the volume of the non-financial assets decline column.
After the question-and-answer session, the committee supported the continuation of further proceedings on the issue. At the session, Nino Dolidze, the director of the Regional Center for Youth, was also heard about the current year’s activities and plans.
According to the Director, the Center is implementing various programs and events in all six municipalities of Adjara to support young people, develop their abilities, engage them in community life, and promote youth initiatives.
During the accounting period, up to 12,000 young people were involved in the activities of the center, 35 events and programs were implemented, and the total budget was 3,863,230 GEL. The center plans to hold five more events by the end of the year.
Committee members took note of the report presented by the director of the regional youth center.
