The Chairman of the Adjara Government, Zurab Pataradze, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Georgia, Faig Guliev, and the Consul General of Azerbaijan in Batumi, Fuad Azizov.
The Government of Adjara shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on May 14, 2026, Thursday. The Government also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects of deepening bilateral partnership relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan. Zurab Pataradze noted that after many years of work as the Ambassador of Emergency and Plenipotentiary of Georgia in Azerbaijan, it is symbolic for him to hold the first diplomatic meeting with Azerbaijani representatives in his new position.
“It was a very fruitful meeting. We were given an opportunity to discuss all the actual issues that are on the agenda. As you can tell, bilateral political and economic relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan are actively developing. This is confirmed by the increasing index of trade turnover – last year bilateral trade reached 300 million billion. Rational management of tourist streams is an important issue. Two flights in the direction of Baku-Batumi are completed every week, and from June, the flights will be carried out daily. We work all year round to make this process as comfortable and tailored to our citizens’ interests.
“I think our involvement, discussing important issues, promoting business, and holding business forums will contribute to increasing trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan and attracting investments,” said Zurab Pataradze.
At the meeting, the Chairman of the Government introduced the guests to the destinations of all four seasons of Adjara’s tourist potential. According to Zurab Pataradze, the region is ready to actively host bilateral business forums and large-scale events, which will contribute to deepening business links and building new partnerships. It is worth noting that the Mayor of Batumi, Giorgi Tsintsadze, attended the meeting.
