The Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Zurab Pataradze, met with the Secretary-General of the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), Shaikha Nasser Al Nuwais.
The Government of Adjara shared the photos of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on Monday, September 21, 2026 along with the brief summary of the discussions.
At the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to developing the tourism sector in Georgia and Adjara. Strengthing the region’s positioning in international tourist markets was another key topic highlighted during the session.
Special attention will be given to utilizing Adjara’s tourism potential even more effectively. Other key subjects included promoting the region’s cultural and natural heritage, diversifying tourism offerings, and exchanging international best practices.
The Chairman of the Adjara Government introduced the head of the UN Tourism Organization to the major projects implemented in the tourism sector of Adjara in recent years and the tourism opportunities in the region.
One of the main objectives of the meeting was to deepen cooperation between the UN Tourism Organization and the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. The sides discussed future joint initiatives and possibilities for implementing projects, including sustainable tourism and international standards.
The Secretary-General of the UN Tourism emphasized the progress made in Georgia and Adjara’s tourism sectors. She also noted the importance of international cooperation in driving sustainable tourism development.
