The Chairman of the Adjara Government, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, spoke about future priorities at the government meeting and summarized the results achieved in the current year.
The Prime Minister noted that policies focused on stability and the country’s development have enabled economic growth in the region.
“The policy of our government is clear and focused on peace, stability, and the development of the country. It was in the background of this stability that the economic development of the region became possible. Compared to 2025, the budget has increased by 10 percent. The increase in the budget allows us to direct more resources to citizens, the development of the region, and priority areas,” said Sulkhan Tamazashvili.
The chairman of the government focused attention on several major directions. According to him, the main task in the field of health care is increasing the availability of medical services. About 100,000 citizens have benefited from health care programs during the year. Next year, the budget will increase, so the number of programs and beneficiaries will increase.
While speaking on the field of education, Sulkhan Tamazashvili noted that the basis of long-term development of the country is education. In 2025, more than 10,000 students in the region will have an improved learning environment, 2 new public schools will be built, and 30 schools will be rehabilitated. According to the chairman of the government, budget growth in this direction allows this process to continue.
Sulkhan Tamazashvili’s statement that sports funding is also increasing. The chairman of the government thanked the athletes who represented the country and the region several times a year.
Agricultural development remains one of the main priorities. Up to 29,000 farmers will benefit from agricultural programs in 2025. According to the government chairman, the increase in the budget of this field will provide more appreciation for the labor of local farmers. Also, Sulkhan Tamazashvili presented the latest data on citrus exports and noted that the citrus season is running smoothly. According to him, as of today, up to 24,000 tons of tangerines have been exported, with a total value of more than $ 13 million. Also, more than 12 thousand tons of non-standard tangerines were recycled, for which more than 4 million GEL in subsidies was given.
At the meeting, they also talked about the achievements in the field of tourism. It was noted that there was an important step forward towards international recognition. According to 9 months of data, about 4 million visits were recorded in Adjara. According to Sulkhan Tamazashvili, it is planned to implement interesting and innovative projects in the next year, so that the region will be a center of tourist attraction and economic activity in all four seasons
The development of the cultural sphere in the region was also successful. Important projects that serve to protect cultural heritage and develop modern cultural life have been implemented.
