Georgia: Sulkhan Tamazashvili focused attention on important issues at the meeting of the Adjara government. The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, noted that infrastructure projects are being implemented actively in Adjara.

Infrastructural projects are actively underway in the region. Last week, together with the Minister of Infrastructure of Georgia, we inspected both completed and ongoing educational, sports, and road infrastructure facilities in Batumi and Kobuleti municipalities. Also, Batumi City Hall has started the implementation of an important project – at the end of 2026, we will have a shelter for homeless dogs in Batumi with modern standards,” said Sulkhan Tamazashvili.

The Chairman of the Government summarized the citrus season and said that with the coordinated work of all the relevant arrangements and the circle involved in the process, the citrus season went on without any significant delays.

Sulkhan Tamazashvili paid attention to road-clearing works in the highland Adjara during the period of heavy rainfall and heavy snowfall. The Chairman of the Government noted that the Department of Roads and Municipal Services has provided efficient and coordinated clearing of both administrative and internal rural roads.

At the meeting, the chairman of the Adjara government noted that the winter season at the resort Goderdzi is in an active phase and the number of visitors is positive. Also, he said that special attention is being paid to the improvement of road infrastructure.

“We have positive dynamics both for visitors, as well as for the development of hotel infrastructure, including for family-type hotels, which I can assure you is very important for improving the socio-economic condition of the local population,” said Sulkhan Tamazashvili.

The Prime Minister also announced a new decision, according to which, from 2026, one-time financial aid for citizens aged 100 and older will increase up to 5,000 GEL.

In addition, the Prime Minister touched on one of the most recent issues related to the protests with the buildings on Gogoli Street in Batumi. Sulkhan Tamazashvili noted that by the decision of the Prime Minister, the mentioned buildings will be fully taken into account for social purposes.

“By the decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia, these buildings will be fully considered for social purposes and will not have commercial purposes. A relevant commission has been created, which will individually consider each statement in accordance with the established criteria. I urge citizens to refrain from some speculations that have been circulating in this community for several days. The state will not give anyone the right to occupy this object by themselves,” said Sulkhan Tamazashvili.

According to Sulkhan Tamazashvili, as of today, there are up to 2,000 ecomigrants in Adjara, some of whom are provided with state rent. For this purpose, an average of 6 million GEL is spent from the budget. ‘“We will be able to use this money in other, as well, important ways – be it social or health care programs,” – said Sulkhan Tamazashvili.
