On the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the establishment of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, a scientific conference and award ceremony for researchers was held in Adjara with the support of the Government of Adjara.
The Chairman of the Government of Adjara, Zurab Pataradze, participated in the closing ceremony of the conference, together with the Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia.
The Prime Minister congratulated the members of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences on their anniversary and noted that the development and popularization of national science is of particular importance for the development of the country.
“The Georgian National Academy of Sciences is one of the main pillars of the intellectual development of our country, and it is especially proud that the cycle of events dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Academy of Rome began precisely from Adjara. The Georgian educational and scientific heritage, based on the traditions of the Ikalto and Gelati academies – the establishment of Tbilisi State University and the creation of Batumi State University, conceived by Ivane Javakhishvili the Great, strengthens Georgian science. The second meeting was another opportunity to express our respect for the science of honor, their work and the special contribution they make to our development,” said Zurab Pataradze.
Within the framework of the event, academicians, professors and research assistants were awarded certificates of gratitude for their contribution to the development of Georgian science. The Adjara government presented songs of gratitude to members of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences – Academicians Vano Papunidze and Liana Mikilishvili.
The two-day scientific forum brought together members of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, academic staff of higher education institutions, representatives of scientific and research institutes, young researchers and experts in the field.
The scientific conference, which was held with the support of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and within the framework of the Ministry of Education and Sports, was organized by the Shota Rustaveli State University of Adjara.
The event was attended by the Minister of Education and Sports of Adjara, Maia Khajishvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Zviad Gabisonia, Rector of Batumi State University Tite Aroshidze and Rector of Tbilisi State University Jaba Samushia.
