Tbilisi: A group of Israeli agro-experts held a two-day training on modern agricultural production issues. Many Georgian agriculture scientist as well as people associated with the Georgian agriculture sector attended the training session.
Yuval Elazar and Daniel Hadid experts from Mashavi Shvaim Agricultural Training Center in Israel conducted the two-day training. The employees of the Scientific Research Center of Agriculture, representatives of the Information and Consulting Center of the Rural Development Agency of Georgia and farmers across the country attended.
On this occasion the training session included both theoretical and practical parts. They also discussed the relevance of hydroponics which means agricultural production without soil.
The topics of hydroponics were discussed in detail. Experts also discussed its advantages and disadvantages during its practical use. At the same time the participants of the training received detailed information about the technical characteristics and materials necessary for the arrangement and operation of hydroponic systems. The discussion also covered the conditions necessary for growing vegetable crops in these systems without use of soil.
It should be added that the training was held within the framework of the joint program of the Scientific Research Centre of Agriculture and the MASHAV Agency of Georgia. During the practical part of the training a visit was made to the research demonstration greenhouse set up by MASHAV, the International Cooperation Development Agency of Israel, at the Tsilkni base of the Scientific and Research Center of Agriculture. During the visit the participants of the training session also learned in detail the working principles and mechanisms of the hydroponic system.
It should be noted that with the funding of the Israeli Embassy under the framework of the MASHAV program of the International Cooperation Development Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel a meeting was organized in (hydroponics) at the Tsilkni base of the Scientific and Research Center of Agriculture.
The goal of the long-term cooperation project between the two countries is to establish a demonstration hub in the region, where agronomists and experts from Israel, Georgia and neighboring countries will be able to share knowledge and experience and train students and interested farmers.
