Otar Shamugia meet his Czech Colleague In Dubai

Otar Shamugia, Georgian Minister of Environment and agricultue met Petr Hladik Minster of Agriculture of Czech Republic and discussed many bilateral issues including agriculture Development.

Otar Shamugia, Georgian Minister of Environment and agricultue met Petr Hladik Minster of Agriculture of Czech Republic. Otar Shamugia is in Dubai to attend the COP28 being held from 30 November to December 12, 2023.

 Conference on Climate Change (COP28) is an International platform for multilateral decision-making on climate change, with almost every country in the world participating in it. More than 100,000 delegates participated in the conference in Dubai this year, and various events were held.

Georgian Minister Otar Shamugia stated at the meeting with his Czech colleague that Georgia and the Czech Republic have had long-term friendships and successful cooperation in the past, and this would continue in future as well.

Otar Shamugia said, “For many years, we have been successfully cooperating with the Czech Republic as well as with the Czech Development Agency in the field of research and development of caves in protected areas of Georgia. Meeting and discussing important issues within the UN Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP 28) will contribute to a more dynamic development of cooperation in both countries “.

It is worth mentioning that at the meeting special attention was paid to Georgia’s progress on the road to European integration after the grant of candidate status to Georgia By the European Commission.

He further said, “Georgia is waiting for the most important decision of European Union Membership. After few days the European Council will make a decision on the candidate’s status. Georgia has taken appropriate steps to fulfil the conditions that are important for candidate status and full-fledged membership in the European Union. We had tangible progress which was reflected in the analytical conclusion of the European Commission and published last year that the European Union has properly evaluated progress.

On the other hand, Czech Minister of Environment Petr Hladik noted the Czech Republic fully supported Georgia on the path of European integration and expressed its readiness to cooperate in fulfilling environmental obligations.

Petr Hladik further said “We are extremely happy with the cooperation of Georgia and the Czech Republic, especially in the framework of the new protected areas projects of both countries. We strongly support Georgia’s approach to the European Union and the path it should take in the future to become part of the European Union member. It is important to have relevant legislation to share principles and to join many common goals of the European Union in future.

After the meeting, Czech Minister of Environment Petr Hladik invited Otar Shamugia to the Czech Republic to discuss issues of deepening cooperation.
