Otar Shamugia added that ” The agriculture Ministry under the framework of concessionary Agrocredit, finances specific events in the direction of ownership. The growth and development of the milk and meat production sector in the country is important and play a vital role in employment generation”.

The minister also added that we’ve made changes to the Recreational AgroCredit project. Moreover, three new components will be implemented in this direction. This will involve funding high-yield and meat farms in the country, setting up fertiliser cattle stalls and funding small-scale livestock farms for their overall development.

Minister further added The difference I want to mention between the existing components and the new ones is that in the first component, instead of 4 years we will continue co-financing for seven years. Along with it the interest rate is between 11% today and will be the same with the new component as for small farms here, we will give grant financing within 40,000 GEL to arrange the right Farming and stalls with modern standards”.

It is to be specifically mentioned that, as the Minister noted an important change within the framework of this project is that each project which will be presented will be discussed by the relevant ministry services for more successful implementation.

Every project and every farming practice should be designed and fitted to modern standards, and food safety should be ensured. Every project will be reviewed by the Science and Research Center and the Agency of Agriculture, followed by monitoring.

On the other hand, the people of Georgia gave a mixed response to the announcement of Minister Otar Shamugia. Some people even took to social media handles to express their views. One user, Natela Shamugia, commented, “Agriculture in Georgia should flourish.

he also added How they destroyed factories. Which one can be compared with Georgian tea? Why should Georgians go to pick tea in other countries when there were so many who carried it outside the country? What did they do with so many factories to Mospe that could be sold as scrap? They asked someone for an answer and a lot of things those animals……..

A country is rich when it produces its own and not everything from other countries; who knows how poor it is. … Do we remember what expired flour bread they used to feed people just to fill their own pockets… The ungodly people…… To impose more control on all products, the price is high, but at least we should know what we eat, what our children are feeding… Where did Georgian doctors working abroad write about so many diseases. ….. What are we eating?????” social media user added.

Similarly, another user, while commenting on this announcement, wrote, “Good luck, but I remind you, what interests us as the population is price adjustment for quality meat and dairy products; only then will your project be successful.”
