This was held with the financial support of the Swiss organisation HEKS/EPER. This was the second thematic camp for young people under the ongoing project Climate change-resilient agriculture—PRAISE Marneuli.

The youth of the Marneui municipality have shown great enthusiasm for the camp. They have learned new things and deepened their knowledge about food systems, the history of agricultural development, climate change, mitigation and adaptation, climate change-resilient agriculture, food losses and food waste, and waste management.

At the same time the young people visited the eco-friendly house “Aremere” and learned about eco-friendly construction and permaculture principles. Permaculture is a measure of the proper land management and settlement for natural ecosystems.

It should be mentioned specifically that the camp was implemented within the framework of the “Climate change-resistant agriculture PRAISE Marneuli” project, which is being implemented by CENN with the financial support of the Swiss organization HEKS/EPER.

The project aims to increase the income-generation capacity of the population in Marneuli municipality by promoting environment-friendly and climate-resilient agriculture (CRA).  It is to be added that with the continued agriculture practice since the time immemorial the production quality of the land has got a setback. Some farmers continue to use high fertilizers, insecticides, pesticides, etc. to get the maximum produce.

However, this continued use has many negative impacts on the climate and the health of the land in most areas. The participating youngster learns about different practices that can boost production without the use of harmful pesticides, etc.

On the other hand  this will make them aware of the importance of sustainable development practices and their implementation in the agriculture sector. The participating youth also received a certificate of participation. They also shared their experience that this was a productive session held by the organizers  and they learned about the many methods for sustainable agriculture practices from the experts.
