Tbilisi: The 9.1 MW Akhalkalaki Hydropower Plant is now fully operational in Georgia. The latest development has been undertaken by the Caucasus Clean Energy Holding along with the Icelandic energy company. The project that has been invested in by the United States is a great initiative for the development of clean, sustainable energy in the country.
Recently, the Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili, attended the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP27, that was held in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The conference was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilia Darchiashvili and Head of Government Administration Revaz Javelidze in his delegation.
Garibashvili discussed about the significance of the development of the sustainable and renewable forms of energy in the future during the round table conference held during this visit. Moreover, Garibashvili stressed minimising reliance upon fossil fuels and promotion of clean energy consumption.
The revival of the environment essentially requires to shift to cleaner sources of energy. The recent development is one major step towards mitigating the worse climatic impacts, the carbon emissions from fossil fuels, as Garibashvili noted.
Additionally, Garibashvili highlighted the prospects of Georgia developing as one of the major energy suppliers to the European countries in the future. As per the Georgian government leader, the country is rapidly progressing as a country with the cleanest and most sustainable energy.
The United States has also assured a consistent support towards energy security and independence for Georgia in the future.
