Georgia: The representative of the mayor of Akhalkalaki municipality of village Disilinki has been arrested by the employees of the State Security Service, Anti-Corruption Agency of Georgia.
The State Security Service (SSS) of Georgia shared the details of the arrest made by the employees of the State Security Service, Anti-Corruption Agency of Georgia, on its official Facebook Page on Thursday, October 16, 2025. The service also shared the glimpses of the arrest along with its details.
The case concerns the fact of taking bribes in exchange for giving false information about the origin of agricultural products while performing their official rights and duties in favor of the bribe giver.
An investigation has determined that in the administrative unit of Disiliki, the representative of the mayor of Akhalkalaki municipality, O.G., prepared three false statements of similar content about the origin of agricultural products. According to each report, 25 tons (75 tons in total) of potatoes brought by a resident to its administrative unit were realized at a specific entrepreneurial entity.
According to O.G., based on false reports issued by him about the origin of goods, it would be possible to sell products at a high price, both in the territory of Georgia and its export, because the price of such products brought to Akhalkalaki municipality is much higher on the market compared to other local products.
In exchange for these actions, O.G. asked the entrepreneur entity as a bribe and, on October 15, 2025, gave 6000 GEL.
Based on the court’s order, undercover investigations were carried out, resulting in the obtaining of audio/video evidence of these criminal acts.
The investigation is underway under the first part of Article 338 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment for 6 to 9 years.
