Akhaltsikhe, Georgia: The Association of Architects and Sculptors of Tbilisi organized an exhibition on the theme “Georgian sculpture: A Vision of Past and Future” in the municipal administrative building in Akhaltsikhe City.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by deputies of Akhaltsikhe Municipality Ilia Zardiashvili and Vazha Gachechiladze, chairman of the City Council David Lomidze, deputies David Tabatadze and Saba Kbilashvili, representatives of the State Trustee Administration, local self-government, education and culture spheres.
The project’s goal is to create a moving exhibition of modern Georgian sculptures. The exhibition was first exhibited in Akhaltsikhe municipality and will be gradually presented in different regions of Georgia.
In the exhibition, the observer will see the diverse sculptural works of the founders of the Georgian Sculpture School, current professional artists, and young creators. This diversity ensures that there’s something for everyone to appreciate. Works by local sculptors are also featured, adding a personal touch to the exhibition.
Along with the exhibition, we have planned a series of accompanying events that are not to be missed. These events include educational-cognitive meetings about Georgian sculptures, designed to enlighten and inform local students, schoolchildren, and other interested persons about the rich history and techniques of Georgian sculpture.
The project “Georgian Sculpture: Vision of the Past and Future” is implemented with the financial support of Georgia’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth. Akhaltsikhe Municipality Hall is the project partner.
The exhibition will last from June 27 to July 5, 2024, and anyone who wants to see it can be viewed.
