Akhaltsikhe Municipality, Georgia: A meeting of the council working on issues of persons with disabilities was held in Akhaltsikhe Municipality Hall. The meeting, led by Deputy Mayor Ruben Karapetiani was held on June 26.

Highlights of the Meeting
During the meeting, the members of the council discussed in detail the programs aimed at supporting persons with disabilities in Akhaltsikhe municipality. The conversation also touched upon the measures implemented to create an adapted environment for them and other social projects.
The talk also focused on the recently implemented home care and personal assistant programs, as well as benefits available for various categories of beneficiaries using public transportation. It was noted that about 2000 people, including beneficiaries with disabilities, benefit from various benefits when traveling in municipal transport.
It is worth mentioning that one of the top priorities for the Akhaltsikhe City Hall is to promote and consider the interests of persons with disabilities when planning social programs and other projects.
Future Plans discussed
The Council also discussed plans and proposed projects, while the members of the Council positively assessed the projects implemented for persons with disabilities in the municipality and presented their suggestions and initiatives.
It is worth noting that the Council for Persons with Disabilities represents the Akhaltsikhe Municipality Mayor’s office, which, within its jurisdiction, will discuss the issues of creating conditions for the provision of decent coexistence and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities in Akhaltsinkha Municipality.
The council consists of representatives of the City Hall, NGOs, the social service agency Samtske-Javakheti Social Service Center, and citizens living in the municipality.
