The administration of the Akhaltisikhe has bought wheelchairs adapted for registered disabled people in the municipality. This is social welfare move taken by municipality administrations.
As per the municipality this is the newly bought chairs are equipped with a special device for moving on stairs. So far, these chairs were temporarily given to 6 disabled beneficiaries living in multi-storey buildings in the city of Akhaltsikhe.
The beneficiaries were personally visited by Nugzar Kapanadze, Head of the Health and Social Services Service of the Municipality City Hall, together with employees of the Social Issues Department and representatives of the administrative unit.
It is worth noting that various social assistance sub-programs are implemented to support disabled people registered in the territory of Akhaltsikhe Municipality. Among them, social assistance for disabled people, social assistance for disabled children, social assistance for war veterans with the status of a disabled person, and others are some of the prominent programs.
In addition, a council working on issues of persons with disabilities has been created in the Akhaltsikhe Municipality City Hall, which within the scope of its authority, discusses the needs of persons with disabilities living in Akhaltsikhe Municipality and issues of creating appropriate conditions for them.
It is worth to note that in the past years also the city hall authorities have taken many such issues. This is once again another welfare step taken by the city hall authorities in this direction as well.
It is worth to note that the people with disabilities many times faced difficulties. The people who have some kind of facility for a long time were raising their demand. The official of municipality after consultation have allowed this scheme to launch social welfare scheme for the people of municipality.
