A delegation of the Municipality of Ambrolauri led by Deputy Mayor Tamar Kevanashvili is on an official visit to Poland. The Deelgatio consists representative of City Hall and City Council representatives. The Delegation is in Poland on a study visit.
During their visit to Poland the representatives of local self-government (visiting delegation) participated in the program namely “Academy of Self-government: Leadership and Management in Georgian local self-government”.
 It is to be specifically mentioned that the study visit aimed to introduce Poland’s experience and practice in the functioning of municipalities and public services delivery of the Georgian Municipality.Â
Moreover the aim was also to grow as well as deepen knowledge in the field of local self-government management and share best practices in the areas of culture and recreation, social and health policy, education, waste management and environmental protection, municipal finance and development Developing sustainable development strategies etc.
It is also to be noted that this program is being implemented by the Polish Solidarity Fund PL Georgia in cooperation with the Public Service Bureau , Association of Local Self-Governing Units of Georgia (SATEPA), and the Miroshevsky Center. The curriculum is developed by the Polish Lech Kaczynski School of Public Administration (KSAP).
There was also a presentation to give in-depth information to the Georgian delegation. It was agreed by all Present members that the involvement of the local public in the government functioning is very much necessary for the better functioning of municipalities .
Issues of environmental protection and waste management also got the attention during the meeting of both sides as well.
They said that proper waste management is the first condition for the protection of the environment. It was also discussed that joint action at the world level is also a need of the hour to overcome the challenges being posed by climate change and global warming to the environment and all natural resources.
Representatives of local self-government were awarded certificates for successful completion of the course.
