July 11, 2024, Georgia: In the village of Chorjo of Ambrolauri municipality, a laboratory-confirmed case of a human being was detected on July 11, 2024, Friday.
A 45-year-old woman with measles, probably in February of this year, was infected by her puppy. The puppy died the same month. The woman was not lucky enough to receive Antirabi’s help. The development of the clinical image of Tsopi began on July 6, with typical clinical signs for this disease. The case was registered on July 11, 2024, which ended with a lethal result on the same day.
Based on the request of the National Food Agency of Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti Regional Authority, the State Trustee of Racha-Lechkhumi-Lower Svaneti Papuna Margvelidze issued appropriate disputes and quarantine restrictions were imposed on this territory.
Quarantine means emergency vaccinations of all kinds of healthy animals, prohibiting animals from endangered areas, and other preventive measures provided by law.
Appropriate preventive measures have been taken; 19 people who came in contact with the deceased have been vaccinated, and the search for other people who are in contact with the dead continues for vaccination.
Quarantine is imposed at the request of the National Food Agency 30 calendar days after its establishment and the last confirmed case of measles.
