Tbilisi: An independent investigation conducted by “TV Pirveli” exposed many incidents of poll code violations on October 26 by Georgian Dream.
The investigation also throws light on the use of threats and undue influence on the voters to change the opinion of voters.
TV Pirveli Investigation exposes alleged Schemes of pressure, vote buying, and Carousels. According to the investigation’s experts, the Georgian Dream used multiple tactics in this direction.
The Georgian Dream allegedly engaged call centers to convince voters in their favor. Moreover a report of TV channels revealed that call centers established by the Georgian Dream were assigned to almost every polling station in the country.
As per report the Georgian Dream assigned minimum four employees to each call centre to execute its plan to influence the voters decisions. Each call center was given the task of mobilizing voters to visit the polling booth and cast a vote in favor of the Georgian Dream.
The investigation further mentioned evidence to support their allegation. Some of the evidence includes images and videos of call centers employing unethical practices.
Carousel voting was another method used by Georgians, as per this TV investigation report as well. The TV official tried to collect evidence in this regard by contacting some people who cast votes multiple times in favour of the Georgian Dream
This investigation alleges that a woman’s ID card was misused. This incident was reported in Keshalo village of Marneuli Municipality. In another similar case a woman was suspected of voting thrice.
The TV Pirveli investigation also alleged that the watchdog’s officials were involved in unethical practices to manipulate the voters by applying pressure. This was all done to influence the voters in favour of the Georgian Dream.
Moreover the watchdog’s officials also created chaos to disturb the observers who were tasked to ensure a fair and impartial election.
This report disclosed vote buying also. Many families confessed to being given an amount between 100 and 200 GEL to vote in favour of the Georgian Dream, which showed a clear violation of the election code by the Georgian Dream.
