Irakli Kobakhidze, the acting Prime Minister of Georgia announced in Parliament that Anaklia port is all set to welcome first ship by year 2029. He was addressing the first session of newly elected national Parliament of Georgia.
While making announcement in this regard acting Prime Minister underlined that, In-construction of Anaklia deep sea port in the country’s Black Sea town will boost economic progress of country in multiple way. He assures member of new Parliament that new port will receive first ships by 2029.”
According to Prime Minister the year 2029 is the latest deadline for completion of project when port will welcome ship. It is worth to note that new port will be build with the initial investment of $600 million.
While sharing other details about project he said, a heavy amount has been invested by Georgia in this very important project. The port built with huge investment will have capacity to handle 600,000 container per year.
Prime Minister also expressed hopes that this project will create various job opportunities for people of region as well. Notably in the first phase of construction the many people have already got job which has many positive effects in economic life of people.
PM stated that although in first phase we have given 2028 as deadline but unfortunately the construction company could not complete this important project. However, the company will be bound to follow this new deadline in totality.
A Belgian company was winner of tender to execute this important project. The company have completed major portion of this port project however the company will execute the remaining project work in short time as disclosed by officials of construction company as well.
The PM said the project is very important for Georgia’s strategic point of view. This will boost investment opportunities in western Samegrelo region of Georgia. Acting Prime Minister’s party Georgian Dream have regained power in last month election.
