The Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, ‘Ali Asadov’ attended the Silk Road Forum in Tbilisi. The Forum was held on October 26, 2023. During his speech at the Forum, he thanked Irakli Gharibashvili, the prime minister of Georgia and other Georgian ministers.

During the speech, Ali Asadov said -‘I would like to thank our Georgian friends. In particular, I would like to thank Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili for such traditional hospitality that you have shown to me and the delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.’

He also noted that he was glad he was in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, today.

He mentioned in his speech -“Tbilisi is becoming more and more attractive city every year as it develops and shows positive changes.” We sure are excited to see all this. At the same time, I want to express my gratitude to Irakli Garibashvili. Thank you for inviting me to participate in the “Silk Road Forum” of Tbilisi. “For several years now, this forum confirms that it has become an important international platform to discuss agendas and issues of regional, global importance.”

According to him, historically, Azerbaijan and Georgia are located on the Great Silk Road route connecting east and west. He also mentioned that both countries have played an essential role in developing trade and economic links, as well as in strengthening cultural relations between Europe and Asia.

This tradition is already seen in modern history, and, of course, Azerbaijan and Georgia again became the first countries to support the concept of restoration of the Great Silk Road. It is also worth noting that this conference was held in 1998 in Baku, where leaders of our country participated, and 30 international organizations and 35 governments also participated in this conference.

At last, he talked about the infrastructure of the countries. He said that they conducted transport operations in coordination with Georgia, as well as with other partners in our region. It’s good to see Georgia doing great things in this field, like modernizing its railways, building ports and developing road infrastructure. In addition, on the agenda of Azerbaijan-Georgia cooperation, there is a project to create a new port infrastructure.

He noted- “We are ready to cooperate in this field as well, and besides ports, it is also very important that there are means of civil-freight transport to ensure the transportation of goods.”
