Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA) organized a Startup Summit and the regional competition of the Startups World Cup. The Summit was held at the GITA tech park.
The official statement in this regard came from the GITA representatives. According to the GITA official the event held in the Black Sea city of Batumi. It was aimed at supporting new start-ups and giving them the opportunity to explore new opportunities.
It is to be mentioned explicitly that all the experts lauded the efforts. They expressed hopes that this will make a great contribution to supporting and promoting the development of the startup ecosystem in Georgia . Many international entrepreneurs visited the summit and shared their own experiences.
At the same time a startup competition was held with the participation of a number of companies. This year a Georgian agro-tech startup, Telagri won the contest. The startup was appreciated for its exceptional skill and concept which can bring a significant change in the country’s agriculture sector as well.
Telagri is also known for connecting farmers with agri specialists across the country and the world. This startup helps the farming of rural areas of Georgia that otherwise would not have access to the latest technology in the field of agriculture.
The founders of Telagri along with officials planned to visit Silicon Valley, USA. They will represent the Republic of Georgia at the Startup World Cup in October at USA. This Startup World Cup will allow attendees to compete for a $1 million investment prize.
Many other organizations help to successfully organize competitions besides GITA it includes the Bank of Georgia Business, the Batumi City Hall, the United Nations Development Programme and the Mayors for Economic Growth.
The event saw a number of seminars and workshops. There were specific presentations on the topic which were attended by representatives of many companies. Participants also learned about the business opportunities in Georgia.
