The Batumi city of Georgia hosted the black sea summit of the assembly of the European region third time . The summit was opened by the Chairman of the Adjara Government, Tornike Rizhvadze.
This is the third time when Bautmi is hosting this important summit. This is a sign of the importance of the autonomous region of Adjara for the Europan Regional Assembly.
In addition, the chairman of the Adjara government also stated, “I would like to thank the President of the Assembly and all the participants for this special opportunity and their unwavering trust. Today, Batumi has been included among the 10 best European destinations for investors.”
Furthermore the chairman added that “in the face of an ever-growing economy the city provides opportunities for investment in real estate, hospitality, tourism infrastructure, and renewable energy as well. The Autonomous Republic of Adjara together with the government of Georgia stands on the path of European integration and shares European values and principles. I am sure that this summit will be a success for our common goals and progress.”
It is worth mentioning that representatives from many major European countries participated in the summit. Some of these countries include Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Croatia, Ukraine, Cyprus, Albania, Belgium, and other European states regions of the assembly to hold working meetings. At the same time the priorities of cooperation and future development prospects were discussed at the meetings.
Notably Adjara hosts the summit for the third time within the framework of cooperation with the Assembly of the Regions of Europe. The region is a full member of the Assembly of European Regions and works to support Georgia’s integration into the European Union.
It must be noted that the Assembly of the Regions of Europe (AER) represents Europe’s largest network of independent regional authorities. The organization unites 35 European states, 270 regional governments, and 16 interregional organizations.
The summit has gained importance as the country was granted the status of candidate country in December and is now aspiring to full-fledged membership of the European Union.
