Batumi’s Vice-Chancellor inspects feeding works on Black Sea coastline

Batumi, Georgia: The Vice-Chancellor of Batumi, Nukri Dekanadze visited the Batumi boulevard and inspected the artificial feeding works of the Black Sea coastline, together with the Minister of Agriculture of Adjara, Zaza Shavadze on January 21, 2025.

He also got acquainted with the ongoing process on the spot. During the discussion, the mentioned works were taken into account in Batumi, the Black Sea coastline – the airport runway, and more.

The Leaders of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Administration and Lasha Mikeladze, the director of Batumi Boulevard also took part in the talk.

According to the ministers, the beach artificial feeding projects are being implemented on the new boulevard space. In particular, 110,000 kbm of beach-producing sand-gravel material will be transported from the pre-selected quarry in the Chorokhi River, and washable berms will be installed in the appropriate locations.

The main aim of these embankment works was also also discussed, which is to preserve the Batumi Coastline. Additionally, the Batumi City Hall has started a project that includes building regulatory walls to protect the sewage collectors from storms and fixing the pedestrian route in the new boulevard that was damaged by the weather.

Iron-concrete regulation walls are already in place for this level. In this segment, preparation work for a concrete ring starts with ground removal and curb installation. Along with new concrete furniture, the existing loungers and chairs will be disassembled and reassembled. The 700-meter damaged pedestrian route will be fully restored, and new trash cans will be installed in place of the damaged ones.

The conversation touched upon the various topics of the project like their completion, finances, and the works included in it. According to their talk, it was found that, the works were started in August last year and are expected to be completed by March this year.

These works require a financial investment of over 236,563,319 GEL. In addition, the Batumi City Hall has already carried out the embankment works, including waves, an iron-concrete belt, stairs to the shore, and a ramp.

The damaged infrastructure of the pedestrian path has been fully restored. The Batumi City Hall spent 15 658 966.10 GEL on the reconstruction of the embankment and the coastline near the New Boulevard.

At last, Nukri Dekanadze, the Batumi’s Vice-Chancellor, appreciated the workers involved in this process for the work they had done. He expresses his gratitude towards those workers for their great work.
