David Zaalishvili, Chairman of Borjomi Municipality City Council congratulated the citizens on the International Women’s Day that falls on 8th March every year. He also encouraged the women to contribute to the development of the country with their hard work and determination.

The mayor while congratulating the citizens stated specifically that “ Congratulations on this day not only to women, but also to everyone who values the idea of human dignity, freedom, and equality!”.

According to the mayor Women’s role is vital for the country’s progress and prosperity. Every day in social or socio-political life depends on your (women’s) hard work and professionalism. Strong and educated women are indeed responsible for the many significant social changes that have changed the world for the better.

Mayor further stated that “We can say with pride that in Georgia historically the role of women in the development of society and country has always been appreciated. Even in the 12th century, we had one of the most powerful King Tamar. At the beginning of the 20th century when the participation of women in political processes and public life was rare, the Independent Republic of Georgia already had women members of the political party and the founding council which is an example of the freedom women enjoy in the republic of Georgia”.

He also added “Today there are more women in Borjomi municipality’s council than ever and three of the five permanent commission’s chairmen are women. That’s a big step forward. I hope the number of women in advanced positions will increase significantly in the coming years! Once again, with all my heart I congratulate you and wish you much success in your personal life and public work! With all due respect, David Zaalishvili”.

On the other hand, social media users also reacted to the social media post of Mayor on Women’s day. They also extend the best wishes for international women’s Day as well.
