ExpoGeorgia: Jury announces winners of  14th International Wine Competition

The jury has announced the winner of the International wine competition. This competition was held under the framework  of the 16th international exhibition of wine and alcoholic beverages, “WinExpo Georgia.”

 

The winners were announced under the various categories. On the occasion  twenty-one winners earned gold medals out of which six were rewarded for distinguished quality and received the highest Trophy. Seventy-seven silver medals and 96 bronze medals were given to the winners. It is also worth mentioning that 76 companies produced 226 wine samples in total.

 

The awards ceremony was presided over by Resan Kikava, director of the exhibition center ExpoGeorgia, Chairman of the National Wine Agency Levan Mekhuzla, and other members of the competition jury who delivered the prizes to the winners.

 

The chairman of the national wine agency Levan Mekhuzla  addressed the participants and stated “This competition is the best platform to host and promote Georgian wine and the modern state of winemaking at the international level. I would like to thank the chairman of the jury and all the members who evaluated Georgian wines and gave honest reviews.”

 

He also underlined that, This competition is very important for both the promotion of Georgian wine and winemaking culture as the country is called the homeland of wines.

 

Notably  the special prize of six distinguished wines  ” sommelier ‘s choice” was given by Shalva Khetsuriani, the president of the Association of sommelier of Georgia, to the winners. The jury members included the wine masters, enologists, international experts, and wine professionals. The competition was held under the chairmanship of wine master Tim Atkin (Great Britain). The other prominent members of the jury were Anna Martin Onzan (Spain), Kenichi Ohashi (Japan), Kong Kong Bo (Great Britain), Beth Willard (Australia), Chan Jun Park (Republic of Korea), Levan Mekhuzla (Chairman of the National Wine Agency (Georgia), Mikheil Meskhi (Georgia), Ana Godabrelidze (Georgia) and Giorgi Dakishvili (Georgia).

The 16th International Wine and Alcoholic Beverages Exhibition was held in Tbilisi with the support of the National Wine Agency of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and the Exhibition Center “ExpoGeorgia” from 7 to 9 June 2024.
