A significant lecture was held at the Caucsus University of Georgia. The lecture discusses the issue of personal data protection on May 1, 2024.
The lecture was given by Grant Thornton Georgia’s head of the legal department Nino Jolia and Grant Thorton Georgia’s lawyer Nino Kvalaidze. It is to be specifically mentioned that Georgia’s new law on personal data protection came into force on March 1, 2024.  This law newly established legal issues related to personal data protection and brought it closer to European standards as the country has been granted the status of candidate country.
The key speaker of the lecture  discussed challenges  related  to  the  new legislative regulation and new obligations for businesses under the law. The discussion also included the discussion on rules regulating the new principles of direct marketing and personal data protection.
Notably, the new law on the Institute of Personal Data Protection will into force from June 1, 2024. The key speakers of the lecture also said that time is very crucial as the world has become a digitally connected world. The cybercriminal has been causing big challenges for the safety of data. Â Legal experts have been demanding strict laws for data protection. Moreover, the criminals involved in transnational crime are very difficult to bring to justice.
A significant number of the attendees discussed the issue of personal data protection. They also shared their personal experience on the issue. The main speakers of the lecture also said that joint efforts are the need of the hour to implement data protection measures. The need to make the regional and international platform was also discussed so that all the countries across the globe can contribute to the data protection measures.
This was expected by all the speakers that new legal provisions will play a significant role in protecting the data of individuals as well. There was also a presentation for the participants to apprise them of the various aspects of Data protection as well.
