Caucasus University wins in Young Scientist Research Grant Competition announced by SRNSFG

Tbilisi, Georgia: The team of the Caucasus University, Cyber Security Center has won another Shota Rustaveli in the Young Scientist Research Grant Competition announced by the National Scientific Foundation of Georgia.

Giorgi Iashvili is a young scientist of the project, Associate Professor of the Caucasus University and Deputy Director of the Cyber Security Center. The mentor of the young scientist is Maxim Yavich, a professor at the Caucasus University and director of the Cyber Security Center.

The topic of the winning project is “A new safe and effective post-quantum digital signature scheme with an integrated random number generator“.

The study will focus on optimizing post-quantum digital signatures and integrating pseudo-random and quantum random number generators into them. The study will look into both random and quantum random number generators in order to improve their efficiency and safety.

The results will be tested in the quantum laboratory, which will be created in the near future at the Caucasus University. This laboratory will be the first quantum laboratory in Georgia and the most developed region.

The duration of the winning project of the Young Scientists Research Grant will be 2 years.

Caucasus University

Caucasus University is a private university in Tbilisi, Georgia. The university was established in 2004. It is the successor to the Caucasus School of Business, founded in 1998 in partnership with Georgia State University, Atlanta, U.S., during Georgia’s transitional period from a planned to a free market economy.

The Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia (SRNSFG) is a public law entity that promotes science, technology, and innovation (STI) in Georgia. The foundation’s mission is to:

The  was established in 2010 by Presidential Decree 428. It is overseen by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The foundation’s funding schemes include: 

  • Competitive grants for long-term research projects
  • Personal grantSRNSFGs (scholarships) for young scientists
  • Travel grants for Georgian researchers and S&T policymakers
