The Center for Environmental Information and Education of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture is all set to organise the event under the theme of “Earth Hour”. This significant event will be celebrated on March 23, 2024.
This event Earth Hour will be celebrated to inform the public about climate change and raise environmental awareness. Climate change ,global warming and other climatic issues have caused huge problems for environmentalists around the globe. The scientific community has also warned about the negative effects of these climatic changes.
It is worth noting that the Global Environmental Campaign means denying millions of people worldwide the ability to use electricity for an hour. Similarly the Georgian Ministry of Environment and Agriculture will as a tradition join this year and try to ensure society’s maximum involvement in this campaign.
This year, the “Earth Hour” event aims to unite as many people as possible to protect the planet. Within the “Earth Hour” framework organised by the Center for Environmental Information and Education, pupils of European School gave a lecture about the issues’ importance.
The director of the Center for Environmental Information and Education, Tamar Aladashvili also addressed the audience. While giving the lecture he also spoke to young people about the importance of environmental issues. He encouraged them to join the Georgian government to make sustainable development a reality.
The world-level organisations have launched many drives against climate change. The UNO also has many designated days for environmental related issues like World Environment Day etc.
On this occasion the students also demonstrated mini-projects prepared by them as part of an awareness campaign. Students received information about the importance of the “Earth Hour” event and climate change.
The students thanked the organisers of event on this historic day. They added that this gave them a great opportunity to know about the several environment related issues.
