Citizen Saint received the award for best film at the Bulgarian International Film Festival, also known as the Sofia International Film Festival.
At the International Film Festival‘ IFF Golden Linden-2024’ in Stara-Zagora, Bulgaria, the triumphant result of a collaborative effort between Georgia, France, and Bulgaria was celebrated. Director Tinatin Kajrishvili’s film – ‘Citizen Saint’ – emerged as the festival’s best film, a testament to the collective talent and dedication of the three nations.
The film, shot with the invaluable support of the National Cinema Center of Georgia, has won the hearts of the Bulgarian audience and has been recognized with several international awards, further solidifying its status as a cinematic gem.
The winning film was announced at the closing event and received high ratings from an international jury.
Director Tinatin Kajrishvili, in a heartfelt video clip, expressed his profound gratitude to the festival organizers and the esteemed jury. He acknowledged their pivotal role in the film’s success, making the audience feel the depth of his appreciation and the film’s recognition.
The film festival aims to promote European cinema in Bulgaria and show the latest and most exciting films from different European countries. The festival has two programs: competition and additional, in which films from Bulgaria and other parts of Europe are presented.
It is worth noting that the National Film Center of Georgia announced a competition to finance the screening of full-length feature films at the Cannes International Film Festival in March this year. This resulted in the screening of the film “Citizen Saint” by director Tinatin Kajrishvili and producer Lasha Khalvashi on 19 and 20 May for the film market. It was held in countless halls.
