A training session for the academic staff and doctoral program students of the Caucasus International University was held on 19 April 2024. The topic of the training session was “Changing environment of open science and research ecosystem”.
The training was led by Alexander Berezhko who is an associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Lviv, President of the Institute of Open Science and Innovation, and Chairman of the Coalition for the Development of Research Evaluation (CoARA).
Kakhaber Kordzaia Rector of the Caucasus International University, and Sesili Gogiberidze, the head of the Department of Scientific Studies before the beginning of the training greeted the guests and audience.
On this occasion the guest discussed the importance of innovations in research, the advantages of open science, and the role of young scientists in implementing innovation. They talked about the activity of this topic in Europe and pointed out the directions in which Eastern Europe needs more proactivity. The researcher also discussed barriers that impede the implementation of open science.
It is to be added that open science is the concept that emphasizes accessible and transparent knowledge sharing through developed collaborative networks. Moreover the open science concept is also stressed as a movement that will make scientific research data available for all.
The training was held in interactive mode. Participants discussed Georgia’s experience in scientific research with the guest and received exhaustive answers to questions.
This is also to be added the key speakers on this occasion said that the study of the science is demand of the hour. Moreover science can play a big role in new innovation in almost all sectors ranging from agriculture to the economy. This was also mentioned that the sharing of data with all the stakeholders will provide several opportunities for all. When the common people get the opportunity to develop their scientific skills this will benefit the society at large as well.
