CIU Uni. To host a seminar on Gender Equality

Caucasus International University (CIU) announced to hold a seminar on the theme of "Gender Equality". The Seminar is scheduled to be held on Thursday, November 28, 2023. The schedule of the Seminar will be noon. The Seminar aims to discuss the Istanbul Convention and provisions of the European Commission on Gender section.

Tbilisi: The Caucasus International University (CIU) announced to hold a seminar on the theme of “Gender Equality”. The Seminar is scheduled to be held on Thursday, November 28, 2023. The schedule of the Seminar will be noon. The Seminar aims to discuss the Istanbul Convention and provisions of the European Commission on Gender section.

The issue of Gender Equality has become a global issue. Every year, many regional and international organisations hold seminars on this topic. The main objective of these forums, conferences, and seminars is to sensitise the general public on women’s rights and to encourage the step towards Gender equality.
It is worth mentioning that the main speakers of the Seminar will be Giorgi Osadze and Bella Pipia. Giorgi Osadze is the director of the human rights protection and investigation quality monitoring department of the Ministry of Human Rights and Investigation. Similarly, Bella Pipia is the head of the Department of Human Rights Protection of Investigation Quality Analysis and Evaluation at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

As per the information, panellists will discuss the provisions of the Istanbul Convention; the Istanbul Convention is an international treaty. This international treaty is aimed at stopping domestic violence against women across the globe. Moreover, the provisions of this treaty are legally binding on the signing parties.
The Government of Georgia has initiated many initiatives to stop domestic violence against women. Some of the provision includes prosecuting the accused of domestic violence, protection and rehabilitation of the victim to enable them to live a normal life.

Similarly, the other important agenda on which the discussion will be held included resolution number 1325. This resolution number 1325 was passed by the United States Security Council for Women, Peace and Security. This resolution was passed on October 31 2000. This resolution aimed to protect the women againt the any kind of violence.

Organisers of the Seminar expressed hopes that this Seminar will sensitise the participants to be careful regarding their Gender Equality and women’s rights.
