Georgia: Education forum held at Ilia State University

To mark World Earth Day which falls every year on April 22, an educational forum was held at the Ilia State University. The main objective was to raise awareness of the students on the environmental-related issues.

To mark World Earth Day which falls every year on April 22, an educational forum was held at the Ilia State University. The main objective was to raise awareness of the students on the environmental-related issues. 

Leading environmentalists and climate experts attended the forum and addressed the participants. It is to be added that the world earth day is celebrated every year since 1970. However, the day was celebrated in Georgia first time in 1990.

There was also a presentation for the attendees to make them understand the various aspects related the Earth Day. The key speakers while addressing the forum underlined that the threat of global warming and climate change has forced the nations to implement strict measures against environmental threats.

Many events were also held in other educational and training institutions across the country to make the day historic for spreading awareness. Earth Day also gained huge relevance due to recent changes in the global temperature, which caused glaciers to melt and pushed many countries to the point of greater risk.

 

The role of youth especially the students community also got mention during the session. This was agreed that the students and youth of any country can be the career of the information sharing.

Soil pollution is one of the dangerous types of pollution that needs immediate attention. The polluted soil will become less fertile and ultimately affect the soil productivity.  Later on the low production ability of the earth can cause a huge shortage of food items across the globe and may lead to global hunger.

Experts also warned that the issue of soil prevenation canbe not linger on and needs immediate attention. Students also asked their questions which were addressed by the experts.

Most of the questions were what could be effective measures that can be implemented instantly to protect Mother Earth from the negative effects of climate change and global warming.
