In the past 24 hours, Georgia has reported 11,235 new cases of coronavirus, with 17,130 recoveries and 34 fatalities throughout the country. The positivity rate of coronavirus infections for the past two weeks stands at 27.37%.
However, there are approximately 204,345 people who are still infected with the COVID-19.
Moreover, within the last 24 hours, a total of 33,905 tests were conducted all over the country. Among 33,905 tests, 12,981 were PCR tests, while the remaining 20,924 were rapid antigen tests.
Since Feb 2020, 1,325,838 cases of COVID-19 have been registered in Georgia.Â
As of today, overall, 5,947 patients are admitted to the hospitals and are undergoing treatment, while 1,175 patients are in a serious condition, out of which 278 are on artificial ventilation.
In addition to this, to curb the pandemic, the Chief of the Operational Staff of the Interagency Coordination Council, Giorgi Gibradze, also said earlier that people above the age of 50 who will receive a booster shot would be rewarded with 100 GEL (US$32).
Gibradze also stated that the 200 GEL vaccination promotion campaign would commence in February as part of the government’s vaccination promotion campaign. Georgian people over 50 are eligible for a cash reward of 200 GEL after receiving their first anti-viral vaccination dose.
The Georgian government has also scrapped the requirement of showing COVID-19 green passes to attend venues throughout the country.
The new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in several parts of the country. Tbilisi – 6,133 cases, Adjara – 1,139 cases, Imereti – 1,376 cases, Kvemo Kartli – 628 cases, Shida Kartli – 563 cases, Guria – 184 cases, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 500 cases, Kakheti – 344 cases, Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 157 cases, Samtskhe-Javakheti – 194 cases, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 17 cases.

The Common symptoms of infection include cough, fever, loss of taste or smell, headache and muscle pain, general fatigue and feeling of shortness of breath.
