COVID-19: Georgia reports 12,101 new cases, 45 deaths

The Georgian Health Ministry said that the nation had reported 12,101 new cases of Coronavirus, with 14,764 recoveries and 45 deaths in the past 24 hours. As per the Health Ministry of Georgia, the positivity rate for the past 7 days stands at 28.55 per cent.

The Georgian Health Ministry said that the nation had reported 12,101 new cases of COVID-19, with 14,764 recoveries and 45 deaths in the past 24 hours. As per the Health Ministry of Georgia, the positivity rate for the past 7 days stands at 28.55 per cent.

Overall, there are currently 127,270 active cases of Coronavirus throughout the country. 

Moreover, according to health authorities, a total of 47,486 tests were conducted all over the country within the last 24 hours, out of which 33,164 were rapid antigen tests, and the remaining 14,322 were PCR tests.

Around 3,006 vaccinations have been administered within the last 24 hours.

Since February 26, 2020, the country has recorded a total of 1,565,769 cases of COVID-19. Out of 1,565,769 cases of Coronavirus, a total of 1,422,540 patients have recovered, while 15,933 people have succumbed to it.

The new 12,101 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in several parts of the country. 

  • Tbilisi – 5,269 cases 
  • Adjara – 659 cases 
  • Imereti – 1,935 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli – 578 cases 
  • Shida Kartli – 918 cases 
  • Guria – 471 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 801 cases 
  • Kakheti – 795 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 340 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti – 199 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 136 cases

The new Omicron variant of Coronavirus accounts for about 85% of confirmed Covid-19 cases.

Furthermore, there are currently 5,358 patients who are undergoing treatment in hospitals in Georgia, while 121,052 people are undergoing treatment at home and by consulting their family doctors.

Besides this, 1,230 infected people are in critical condition, out of which 289 people are on artificial ventilation. 

Until now, around 33.4% of the total population of Georgia has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which accounts for 12.4L people. As of now, around 28.8L doses of vaccine has been given.

Earlier this month, the government of Georgia has also reduced the self-isolation and quarantine period to 5 days for some specific patients employed in some particular government departments. 

Moreover, a few days ago, the government has also announced that they have allowed to re-open nightspots from March 5-6 with a maximum of 60%.
