Tbilisi: As many citizens have reported the incident of the threat calls from local and international numbers, the Special Investigation Service of Georgia has released another statement about the action against the responsible persons. The statement describes the action against the guilty in the last two months of April and May, 2024.
The statement included: “We would like to provide information that on the basis of the complaints of the participants of the protest regarding the threat call the investigation of the criminal cases started in the Special Investigation Service.”
It is to be added that the Special Investigation Service received 138 messages from various agencies and through the hotline regarding possible illegal actions carried out by law enforcement agency employees related to the violation of the rights of the rally participants.
Notably to create a database of witnesses and obtain documentary evidence information on the identity of the employees of the emergency medical aid group who performed their duty in the vicinity of the Parliament building of Georgia has been requested from the “Emergency Situations Coordination and Emergency Assistance Center.”
On the other hand, the Tbilisi City Court is in the process of retrieving the materials of the administrative offense cases, the minutes of the court sessions held within the administrative offense cases, the audio recordings, and the audio/video recordings presented to the court by the parties.”
According to the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, 10 people who were also part of the protest have been granted the status of victims as per the legal provisions.
The service employees said that they would provide all the necessary information to the general public from time to time.It is worth noting that during the protest many people complained that they received many threats from national and international numbers. The caller used very abusive language during the call and the people were told that they would face the consequences if they continued to be part of the protest.
