Special Investigation service arrests five for cyber-crime

The members of the Special investigation service have arrested five people for breaching the right of privacy. The accused also includes the three women.

Tbilisi: The members of the Special investigation service have arrested five people for breaching the right of privacy. The accused also includes the three women.

As per the investigation the husband of one accused women had the extramarital relation with a women. On January 28, 2023  the accused woman accessed her husband’s romantic messages on the Viber application and began to distribute to his relatives and friends.

Another man arrested for the infringing the secret of personal life.  He met the  victim through the Facebook   and had virtual sex with her  . Later on the accused threatened the victim woman  that  if she did not obey him and did not follow his instructions  he would spread intimate video and photographs.

Nobably, the confidential material will be destroyed after a court verdict. The accused are in preventative custody, and if found guilty, they can be sentenced to up to 7 years.  In another case, the mother and son were arrested. Son  have access to  intimate photos of  victim with    girl and threatned to viral  on social media.

Similallry the employees of the Special Investigation Service arrested a 19-year-old man for violation of privacy.  As per the information the  accused obtained nude photo-video material of a victim woman through  “Telegram”, after which he contacted the victim woman through the social network sites and demanded to take new intimate shots and send them  to him  otherwise he will viral the already obtained shots which he actually done.

Soon after receiving the information, the law enforcer began the investigation, which revealed that the accused was blackmailing the victim for a long time.  Based on the obtained evidence, the accused was arrested for the crime under the first part of Article 157 of the Criminal Code of Georgia and sent to jail as a preventive measure.

The Special Investigation Service is actively continuing its fight to prevent privacy violations of private life and to identify the persons exposed to the crime. The agency’s representative also added that they would continue their fight against cybercrime along with the launch of awareness drives.
