Georgia: In 2023, with the financial support of the UN, the Strategic Research and Development Center of Georgia (CSRDG) financed 7 important projects of community organizations and initiative groups in the regions.
One is Project Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Center New “Kera,” which was implemented by the Community Union “Vardisubani.” The same new building, Ideatheka, was created for women and young people of the Vardisubani community. It is technically equipped as a learning space for IT technologies.
The presentations, meetings, literature club, English language lessons, graphic and interior design courses, psychologist-coach consultations, and masterclasses are organized on-site.
The village pupils, young people, and adults were involved in the activities. As part of the project, three young women living in the community were also funded to obtain professional qualifications.
Working meetings with the Municipality of Lagodekhi were also organized. In these meetings, the participants
- learned about the municipality’s news and planned projects,
- chose issues to resolve together,
- learned about Lagodekhi’s social program against domestic violence,
- and received information about grant offers for agriculture.
About 300 people involved in the project were the direct beneficiaries. The total budget of the project amounted to 14,390 GEL, of which 8,800 GEL was allocated grant funding by the United Nations Joint Program “Promoting Gender Equality in Georgia” UNDP Georgia within the framework of the project “Women Empowerment for Change” by the Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia.
Strategic Research and Development Center of Georgia is doing the Georgian thing. The law on “Foreign Influence Transparency” and the requirement to register as a “foreign power interest organization” will make their activities impossible and hinder the support of thousands of citizens. This law threatens cooperation with the country’s strategic partners and Georgia’s membership in the European Union.
