Georgian Culture Days event ended successfully on October 3, 2024. The event was organized by Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia with the support of foreign ministry and Embassy of Georgia in Denmark.
During the events, Georgian films were shown in partnership with the National Cinema Center of Georgia and the Danish Film Institute, and the cultural program ended with the screening of Nana Mchedlidze’s film “The First Swallow”.
Days of Georgian Culture attracted European guests and created great interest in Georgian history, culture, and traditions.
“The First Swallow” is a comic-dramatic story of the first pages of Georgian football history, a direct expression of maintaining personality with one’s values – because “The First Swallow” is a sample of genres, meaning and speech about kindness, talent and khala, a diverse and different culture. A sad and honour-oriented story of Georgian football, it is an example of individuality combined with fine cinematic plastic and eloquent dramatic motives.
The one who preserves his personality will never become a part of the careless, untold flows – such a story by “The First Swallow” and Nana Mchedlidze in 1975 made the story of Georgian football into one optimistic novel with different portraits of Dodo Abashidze, Dima Jayani, Anzor Kherkhadze, Politite Khvichia and other actors. The heroes of this movie are free to choose; they remain loyal men of honour, an unbeatable team gathered on land, on the sea, who can answer at any time with the world’s multi-voiced polyphony, a shout unlike anyone else.
Guests of the festival saw the concert of the Georgian folk song ensemble “Basiani” and Kutaisi Song and Dance State Academic Ensemble in “Det-ni Theater”; Lecture-masterclass of Georgian folk songs of ensemble “Basian” held at St. Anne’s School-Gymnasium in Copenhagen and presentation of the first Danish translation of Shota Rustaveli’s “Vepkhistkhaosni” aphorisms by Giorgi Sisauri Accompanied by the masterclass of calligraphy art; the audience also saw it At the Danish Theater “Avenue-T” the performance of the theatre for teen audience William Shakespeare’s “Hotel”; screenings of Tengiz Abuladze’s films – “Repentance” and “The Tree of Dreams” were held.
Days of Georgian Culture will help deepen the cultural relationship between the two countries, introducing Georgian culture and traditions to European people and Georgians living there.
