Tbilisi: The Defense minister of Georgia Irakli Chikovani extended his congratulations to the Sergeant Corps representative on a professional day. The Minister also visited the Didgori on this occasion to attend the event held to mark the professional day.
It is worth mentioning that Minister Irakli Chikovani spoke at this event about the important role of sergeants in the Georgian Defense Forces. The minister thanked them for their contribution to the development of the Defense Forces, their professionalism, and their dedication.
Speaking further about their dedication the minister stated “The sergeants corps played an important role in ensuring the high combat readiness of the defense forces. That is why you have great trust and hope for each and every citizen of the country as well.”
Minister Irakli Chikovani added that on behalf of the government of the Republic of Georgia and the agency I would like to pledge support to the sergeants to strengthen their capabilities and improve their conditions. This capacity building will make them more efficient for the country’s national integrity.
At the same time the Commander of the Defense Forces of Georgia Major General Giorgi Matiashvili addressed the personnel and wished them success. He also assured that the defense ministry is making the best efforts to improve the professional lives of the Sergeant Corps employees.
It is to be added that in connection with the professional day the successful sergeants were awarded departmental medals for their unique performance and dedication to the Motherland and similarly some of them received commemorative paid gifts.
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Defense, the heads of the Ministry of Defense, and the students of the schools participating in the “Army Camp.” The formation of the Contract Professional Institute of Sergeants in Georgia dates back to 2002. Mreover the day of June 25 was earmarked for Sergeant Corps Day. The Defense Forces solemnly celebrated Sergeants’ Professional Day at the Didgori Memorial every year since then.
