Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze attended an important event in Batumi city today. This was the celebration of the International Day of Seafarers.
The day was celebrated in Batumi today. Besides PM chairman of the Adjara Government Tornike Rizhvadze, the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili as well as the Head of the Maritime Transport Agency Alexi Akhvlediani attended the event to extend their best wishes.
The chairman of the Adjara stated “First of all I would like to congratulate you all on the International Day of Seafarers and thank you for your honorable and dedicated service to the nation.”
He also added “ I like to extend the best wishes to those who are going to enter this profession today. The maritime field and each sailor involved in this field plays a special role not only in the economy of our Adjara region but also for the economy of the entire country.”
“We are constantly working together with the Maritime Transport Administration to strengthen student support, access to education, as well as the introduction of international standards and technologies that will enable each student and seafarer to be competitive and represent this profession and our country in a dignified way around the world,” said Tornike Rizhvadze the Chairman of the Government of Adjara during his address here.
It is worth noting that many representatives of the Georgian government ,local authorities, and the diplomatic corps attended the solemn event dedicated to the International Day of the Sailors.
The Day of Seafarer is celebrated every year on June 25 by the IMO (International Maritime Organisation). Other organizations such as international labor organizations and international civil aviation organizations also extend support as co-organizers for the celebration of the day across the globe.
The Prime Minister extended his best wishes to all the members currently serving and the recruits who will be serving in the nation in the days ahead.
