Georgian Defense Agency celebrates Wounded Warrior’s Day

The Georgian Defense Agency celebrates the Day of Wounded Warriors on Sunday, June 30, 2024. The official event of the opening of the week of sports and cultural events was held at the rehabilitation center of military personnel named after Mariam (Maro) Makashvili.

Georgia: The Georgian Defense Agency celebrates the Day of Wounded Warriors on Sunday, June 30, 2024. The official event of the opening of the week of sports and cultural events was held at the rehabilitation center of military personnel named after Mariam (Maro) Makashvili.

Minister of Defense Irakli Chikovani and Commander of Defense Forces, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili addressed the invited guests. The Minister, with the utmost respect, paid tribute to the wounded fighters and talked about the Georgian government’s policy of supporting them: “Caring for each soldier and their support is one of the priorities of our Government and Defense Ministry, implemented with the active support of the Prime Minister.”

“Our goal is to make the conditions of wounded and injured soldiers equal to international standards and be as dignified as it is for our country,” said Irakli Chikovani, emphasizing his unwavering commitment. According to his statement, important measures have been taken to rehabilitate and reintegrate wounded and wounded soldiers. He thanked international and Georgian partners for their cooperation and support.

The event was attended by senior Defense Agency officials, wounded servicemen, US Ambassador Robin Danigan, General Director of Wounded Warriors Support Foundation David Mamulaishvili and invited guests.

An exhibition of works by wounded military personnel was also held on the rehabilitation center’s territory. Within the week, competitions will be held for different types of passports.

Tserovani Rehabilitation Center will also host wounded soldiers and their family members on the Open Day. An exhibition of military equipment and an entertainment program for children are planned for the center’s territory.

The Ministry of Defense of Georgia celebrates the Day of Wounded-Wounded Military Servants in 2021.
