A public discussion of the draft Management Plan for Machakhela Protected Areas was held recently. This important meeting was held at the Agency for Protected Areas.

The official Facebook of agency of protected area stated that, “The draft Management Plan was prepared and discussed. This draft plan was discussed within the framework of the joint program of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture and the Swedish Government “Save Nature – Georgia”.
This discussion were attended by a team of consultants from the non-governmental organization “Ecoton”. Moreover, the representatives of the Agency for Protected Areas, Machakhela Protected Areas Administration, the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, non-governmental organizations and other interested parties participated in the creation of the document.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, the Agency for Protected Areas, the project “Save Nature – Georgia”, the Machakhela Protected Areas Administration and other interested parties.
The draft Management Plan reflects the long-term goals of a specific protected area and appropriate management approaches and contributes to the implementation of environmental education and ecotourism development activities of the public.
The officials from ministry of agriculture and environment protection said discusses was held in a very positive environment. All the experts from different agencies who participated in this event have shared their valuable opinions about protected areas also.
The agency of protected area representative on the other hand also expresses similar view about this meeting. As per them more such meeting will be held in this direction also. These meeting will bring positive outcome in future for protection of environment.
It is worth to mention that the agency of protection is doing very effective work for the overall protection of areas under the forest. The agency has launched many projects in past to protect rich flora and fauna of country.
