On Sunday, the local folk festival “Gomaretoba” was held in the village of Gomareti in the Municipality. The festival is held annually and is the region’s biggest church feast. It hosts multiple cultural and sports events to mark the day.
At the beginning of the festival the Majority Leader of Bolnisi, Dmanisi, Tetritskaro, and Tsalki, Koba Muradashvili congratulated the people. He was also accompanied by the Mayor of Dmanisi Municipality, Paata Kuliashvili, Archbishop of Dmanisi and Agarak-Tashir Protosingelos Dionyse Gviradze and other representatives of the local government offices.
On this occasion many local and invited artists at the Gomareti House of Culture participated in the event as well. The event was also host a children’s “painting and folk crafts” workshop. The exhibition also included handicrafts pottery, felt work, and woven accessories. On behalf of the City Hall symbolic prizes were given to sports activity winners. These gifts were also given to the honorable residents of Gomareti.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the public-church holiday “Gomaretoba” coincides with the Pentecost holiday which falls on the 50th day after the magnificent Easter holiday. It has also been observed as a public holiday to Dionyse Gwimradze, Protosingelos of Dmanisi, and Agarak-Tashiri.
It is to be noted that the festival is being celebrated since 2017. The essence of the traditional holiday is the preservation and revival of the spiritual and material heritage of the village of Gomareti . The attendees enjoyed the performances of all the performers and got a glimpse of the old traditional articles which reflected the old cultural values of the villages.
The traditional articles were displayed in open spaces for people to examine closely and learn the details. On this special day people also enjoyed the delicious, local, and traditional cuisine of Georgia. Meanwhile municipality also shared this information on their social media handles with the glimpses of the events as well. One Facebook user, Gigani Nunu commented “Congratulations to all of you.”
